A 13 year old boy died and his father was injured as a result of a hit and run Miami Car Accident in Miami on Saturday morning. They were simply trying to cross the street in a southwest Miami neighborhood. A witness to the accident stated he “heard a thump” and tried to chase down the vehicle without success.

Miami-Dade County Police conducted an investigation and have reported that the father and son were in the crosswalk when they were struck. The father was injured when the side view mirror struck him and described his son as being “knocked across the street.” The father was holding his son’s hand just prior to his son being hit by the car.  The vehicle, described as a Hyundai Elantra, sped away with heavy damage to the front.  It is hard to believe that the driver of the Hyundai Elantra did not hear or feel the impact.  Furthermore, anybody that did strike and kill a child with a car and then drove away can only be considered a coward.

A Wrongful Death recovery in court can never bring back the loss of a child but could prevent the next young victim.  Even though Jeffrey S. Altman of The Altman Law Firm has been handling Miami Wrongful Death cases since 1998 – hearing about the death of a child is heartbreaking.  This is a tragic Miami Wrongful Death. Our thoughts are with the family of this young victim.
